Forest House: A Seamless Indoor‑Outdoor Home Wrapped in Wood and Green in Brazil
A home that keeps you connected to the surrounding landscape—even when you are indoors—is the dream of many homeowners. The Forest House, designed by Cacau Ribeiro Interiores in Brazil, realizes that vision by wrapping living spaces in warm wood, textured stone and abundant greenery. Throughout the house, natural finishes and carefully selected furnishings create a balanced, modern refuge where the transition between inside and outside feels effortless and intentional.

The concept of bringing the outdoors in is reinforced by wooden slats and brise-soleils that filter daylight and frame views of the surrounding trees. Large sliding glass panels link the interior living room to the dining terrace and an outdoor barbecue and kitchen area, so entertaining flows naturally from inside to out. A modest outdoor kitchen and adjacent barbecue zone complement a generous dining area, allowing for open-air meals beneath pendant lights and beside a long wooden table that easily seats a group.

Inside, a restrained palette of wood, stone and plaster creates contrast and warmth. A textured stone wall anchors the living area, while a smooth plaster finish on the opposite wall counters that texture with calm simplicity. Custom shelving and wooden partitions subtly delineate zones without disrupting sightlines, maximizing storage while keeping the spaces open and welcoming. Lighting is used thoughtfully to highlight textures and create atmosphere, from recessed fixtures to pendant lamps over the dining table.

The designers carefully curated furniture and art that balance simplicity with sophistication, aiming for a home that feels lived-in and elegant at once. Natural materials and neutral tones let greenery and daylight take center stage, while comfortable seating and practical workspaces provide modern convenience. A bedroom that doubles as a home office uses smart lighting and textured finishes to create a restful yet functional environment.

Outdoor living is an essential element of the Forest House. A wooden deck flows from the interior through framed sliding glass doors, providing a sheltered yet open space where plants and natural light are intentionally placed to enhance privacy and connection with the landscape. The design makes nature feel welcome rather than imposed; greenery becomes an integral part of daily life.

“We used wooden brise-soleils and frames with glass to create virtual limits and bring the green into our cabin, giving people the idea that they were out there in the woods. We carefully curated design pieces, art and furniture that would perfectly mix simplicity and sophistication for a couple that loves enjoying nature but also demand comfort. A house alive, full of good memories.”

The bathroom continues the material narrative with stone-clad walls and fixtures that feel tactile and timeless. Across the home, a wide range of textures—from smooth plaster and polished wood to rough-hewn stone—creates visual richness while remaining cohesive. The result is a modern, nature‑forward home that feels comfortable, refined and deeply connected to its site.
