If you are searching for a warm, colorful mountain retreat that comfortably accommodates family and guests, the Jackson Tech House is an outstanding choice. The exterior palette mixes moss rock, rustic corral board siding and zinc panels to integrate the contemporary architecture into its rugged surroundings. The varied textures and natural tones complement the landscape while giving the home visual depth. Sustainable elements are woven into the design: green roofs help manage runoff and insulate the structure, while rooftop solar panels contribute to the house’s energy performance.

A dramatic stone overhang marks the entrance and is topped by a living roof, which both softens the silhouette and extends the home’s green strategies. Solar panels are visible on the upper roof, a clear signal that modern performance and environmental considerations were key to the project.

The entry floor includes inlaid flat-screen panels that can display family art, a rotating photo gallery, or any visual you prefer—an engaging, tech-forward touch that makes the arrival experience personal and flexible. From the foyer, heated concrete ramps link the different levels, following the natural slope and creating a seamless transition between spaces.

The main living areas layer natural materials—dark woods, exposed steel, and polished concrete—alongside colorful furnishings, art, and playful lighting. The raised kitchen and dining platform creates an intimate nook for meals, while generous windows frame mountain views and flood the space with daylight.

Cushing Terrell and Hoyt Architects aimed to strike a rare balance: creating a weekend home that feels cozy and familiar while also being inventive, elegant, and fun. The Jackson Tech House achieves this with a mix of clever details and warm, family-focused planning—resulting in a retreat that feels both lived-in and delightfully surprising.

Playful elements appear throughout the plan. A slide—lined with color-changing LED lighting—links the main level to the recreation room, offering a joyful route between spaces and a built-in source of entertainment. The recreation room itself is laid out for relaxation and gatherings, with generous seating including bean bags and lounge areas where family and friends can watch movies or unwind together.

Guest accommodations demonstrate the house’s family-first approach. One bedroom includes triple-stacked bunk beds to maximize vertical space, while another large sleeping area contains multiple bunk sets arranged to face a corner window with dramatic mountain views—perfect for children and larger groups.

Outdoor living is equally considered. An alfresco dining area offers unobstructed views of the Teton Range and features a Pickard steam injection pizza oven, inviting shared meals and long evenings spent outside. These outdoor amenities extend the living experience and make the most of the site’s spectacular location.
