IKEA Unveils DAJLIEN Home Workout Gear

IKEA, the global furniture retailer renowned for affordable, functional design, is expanding into home fitness. The Swedish company, known for flat-pack furniture and practical solutions for everyday living, will introduce a limited home training collection called DAJLIEN.

Scheduled to launch in January 2024, the DAJLIEN collection includes 19 adaptable products designed to support daily movement and make exercise more accessible at home. The line is intended to help people build sustainable, healthy habits by bringing versatile workout and recovery tools into the living environment.

IKEA developed DAJLIEN after researching how people actually move and exercise at home. Designers visited homes in New York, Chicago, London and Shanghai to observe in-home workout routines and identify common obstacles that prevent regular activity. They found recurring barriers such as limited space, lack of motivation, time constraints and discomfort with public gym settings. DAJLIEN responds to those challenges with multifunctional, space-conscious pieces that are easy to use and store.

The collection’s name—DAJLIEN—echoes the word “daily” in the Småland dialect, a nod to IKEA’s birthplace and to the collection’s aim: to make modest, everyday movement simple and attainable.

DAJLIEN blurs the line between exercise equipment and home furnishings. Many items are designed to serve multiple roles—training tools that double as practical, attractive storage pieces or furniture. This approach is meant to keep gear within sight and reach, reducing friction and increasing the likelihood that people will move more frequently throughout the day.

Key items include exercise mats, a step-up board, and ring-shaped dumbbells that emphasize portability and compact storage. The collection centers on a sturdy bench with integrated storage, inspired by classic gym equipment. That bench functions as a platform for bodyweight exercises, a storage unit for workout accessories and a low table or seating option in everyday living spaces, making it a practical anchor piece for small homes.

Beyond exercise, DAJLIEN includes recovery and wellness items to support rest, relaxation and stress relief. The line features products such as an air purifier, yoga straps, kneepads, a massage ball and a portable Bluetooth speaker. Wearable and comfort-oriented pieces like slippers and two types of ponchos are included for post-workout ease. The collection favors soft, muted colors and subtle detailing so pieces integrate smoothly into home décor rather than standing out as dedicated gym equipment.

IKEA positions DAJLIEN as a limited offering: the global release is planned for January 2024 and the collection will remain available for six months or while supplies last. By combining compact fitness tools, multifunctional furniture and recovery-focused items, DAJLIEN aims to make home workouts more approachable for people with varied schedules, spaces and comfort levels—helping movement become a natural part of daily life.

For shoppers who want discreet, integrated solutions that support wellness at home, DAJLIEN promises a practical, design-led option that fits into modern living. The line’s focus on adaptability and everyday use underlines IKEA’s broader goal of making healthful routines easier to maintain within the home environment.
