Aqua and Turquoise Beach House in Acapulco

The city of Acapulco is celebrated for its beaches, surf and relaxed coastal lifestyle. It draws visitors for its long shoreline and golden sands, but here we focus on a particular residential redesign: Departamento JM, a beachfront apartment reimagined by Weber Arquitectos. Once filled with beige and chocolate tones, the apartment’s interiors have been transformed to reflect a modern, beach-inspired palette—white, aqua, turquoise and pale woods that capture the calm energy of life beside the Pacific.

On entering Departamento JM, a striking aqua and turquoise accent wall immediately draws the eye. A row of sculptural sconce lights not only brightens the entry but functions as art, setting an inviting tone. Delicate wooden latticework separates the circulation path from the living spaces, framing views and guiding movement without closing off the open plan layout. The living area flows into the kitchen and dining zone, and a nearby terrace opens the interior to the Pacific, making the ocean an ever-present backdrop.

The designers leaned into a coastal aesthetic that balances serenity and energy. Walls and major surfaces remain largely white to maximize natural light, while accents in aqua, turquoise and occasional pops of orange introduce vibrancy without overwhelming the calm scheme. Light, bleached wood finishes warm the rooms and complement the ocean-facing orientation, reinforcing the connection to the shoreline. Carefully chosen lighting and a restrained selection of curated décor pieces keep the spaces feeling open, airy and uncluttered.

In the living room, concentrated splashes of aqua and turquoise create focal points—on walls, textiles and accessories—while neutral furniture anchors the composition. A carefully arranged series of lights on a bright aqua wall becomes a sculptural centerpiece, contrasting with the gentle textures of woven fabrics and natural fibers used throughout. The kitchen favors a monochromatic look, where patterned backsplash tiles add subtle visual interest without interrupting the calm, cohesive feel.

Bedrooms and bathrooms carry the same fresh visual language: predominantly white surfaces accented by blues and a restrained touch of orange to introduce warmth and personality. Windows and terraces are prioritized, so private spaces also benefit from ocean views. Furnishings around the terrace follow the breezy beach theme—minimal, comfortable and oriented toward relaxation—so the outdoor areas function as an extension of the interior living space.

Throughout the apartment, natural materials and considered lighting amplify the sense of calm. Wooden partitions and warm finishes balance the cool blues, while recessed and accent lighting define zones and create atmosphere after sunset. The overall result is a light-filled, composed beach-style apartment that celebrates its coastal location without compromising on contemporary comfort and refined detailing.
