Modern family homes today prioritize efficient use of space, a seamless relationship between indoors and outdoors, and clean contemporary style. The elegant and luxurious Eucaliptus House, created by nexe arquitectura in Spain, exemplifies this approach. From the street the house reads as private and restrained, yet as you move deeper into the lot the design opens up and reveals a layered sequence of spaces that respond to light, landscape and daily life.

The house is organized across multiple levels to prioritize privacy, utility and social living. At street level, the façade conceals a garage, stair access and basement service rooms that support the household without defining the home’s daily life. The main living floor above contains an open-plan living area, with the kitchen, dining and social zones flowing together. The kitchen occupies a central position within this level, designed so anyone in it can easily survey and interact with the rest of the space—ideal for modern family living, entertaining and casual day-to-day routines.

A generous porch, terrace and pool area extend the interior living zones outdoors, creating a central activity hub for family life and social gatherings. The outdoor deck is carefully positioned to take advantage of the site’s views while maintaining privacy from the street, allowing residents to enjoy the landscape and natural sounds in a sheltered setting. Upper levels contain additional bedrooms, bathrooms and guest spaces, keeping private sleeping quarters separate from the main social floor.

Materiality is carefully chosen to reinforce the house’s modern, grounded character. Exposed concrete, warm wood elements and generous glass openings combine to create a restrained palette that emphasizes texture, light and the surrounding landscape. Large glass walls, sliding doors and a dramatic glass staircase blur the boundary between inside and out, admit abundant daylight, and create shifting patterns of shadow and reflection throughout the day. These transparent surfaces make the home feel both expansive and intimate, framing distant views while keeping the immediate outdoor spaces close at hand.

Thoughtful lighting design and well-considered finishes add warmth and a welcoming atmosphere. Interior and exterior kitchens, as well as a barbecue zone on the porch, support flexible cooking and entertaining options that take full advantage of the indoor-outdoor relationship. The glass stair—both a practical connector and a striking architectural feature—brings additional light into the center of the home and functions as a focal point that links the house’s volumes.

Because it offers itself to you as a great gameboard, stretching out without established rules, intimately modulable because of the transparency of the glass, the warmth of the curtains, the ethereal shadows cast by the resounding concrete, the music and colours reflected on the water’s surface. Because it frames your immediate surroundings and the most distant landscape. Because it can be perceived as human, accessible architecture. Because of the life it proposes…
The Eucaliptus House is a smart, eco-sensitive residence that engages dynamically with its site. Its layered plan, generous outdoor spaces, and careful mix of glass, concrete and wood create a home that feels contemporary yet timeless—private from the street while open to the landscape. Photography by Simón García captures the material textures, reflections and the balance of light and shadow that make this Spanish home distinctive.
