Two-Story Renovated São Paulo Building Becomes Concept Store

Loja Wentz: A Polished White Concept Store by Felipe Hess Arquitetos in São Paulo

Every retail space makes an impression—sometimes positive, sometimes not. For a new store, that first impression must reflect the brand it represents and present products in a way that is both attractive and functional. Loja Wentz, redesigned by Felipe Hess Arquitetos, achieves this balance with a refined white interior that showcases curated products while offering an inviting, memorable atmosphere.

Housed in a building that was once a two-story residence, the new São Paulo concept store demonstrates a thoughtful conversion that is both practical and beautiful. The design uses a monochromatic white backdrop so that furniture, lighting fixtures and decorative objects stand out as the focal points. Recessed strip lighting combined with pendant fixtures creates an even, welcoming glow throughout the sales floor while targeted display lights draw attention to featured pieces.

Each area inside the store feels intentional. A sleek white staircase leads to the upper level and a mezzanine that expand the retail footprint without detracting from sightlines or circulation. The layout emphasizes visibility and ergonomics—visitors can easily take in the store’s selection while moving comfortably between displays. Soft draperies introduce gentle texture and help frame sections of the showroom, while carefully placed greenery brings warmth and color to the otherwise neutral palette.

Material choices are restrained but deliberate. At the façade, hydraulic floor tiles set a tactile tone for the building’s entrance, while cement-based grouting is used for the interior floor to create a seamless, durable surface. The design plays with contrasts between textured and smooth wall finishes to enhance perceived volume and sculptural quality. This subtle interplay of materials reinforces the shop’s intention: to be a neutral stage that elevates the products on display.

The lighting strategy is twofold: a diffuse ambient layer creates a calm, even environment while accent lighting highlights merchandise and vignettes. This combination improves visibility without sacrificing atmosphere and helps guide customers through the space. Landscape elements emphasize the brand’s affinity for tropical references—green plantings punctuate the interior and provide a natural counterpoint to the clean white backdrop.

Loja Wentz is an exercise in restraint. By limiting the color palette and refining material choices, the architects created a flexible, elegant environment that directs attention to product design and composition. The neutral backdrop allows each piece to be read clearly, encouraging thoughtful browsing and encouraging shoppers to form a deeper connection with the objects on display.

The store’s thoughtful conversion from a residential building, combined with a curated lighting plan, strategic material contrasts and subtle greenery, results in a refined retail environment that feels both modern and welcoming. Interiors like this demonstrate how careful architecture and interior design can reinforce a brand’s identity—creating a place where products are presented with clarity, visitors feel at ease, and every detail contributes to a cohesive experience.
