Every home has its own demands when it comes to design and decoration. In the case of 6House, a complete renovation by Zooco Estudio transformed the property into a fresh, modern residence where a dramatic double-height living area and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves define the character of the interior. The shelves form a striking vertical backdrop against a restrained palette of white and natural wood, while herringbone oak flooring and predominantly white walls create a bright, contemporary canvas punctuated by carefully chosen splashes of color.

The central double-height void in the living area does more than visually expand the ground floor; it connects the various levels of the home and enhances spatial flow. This vertical openness allows daylight to penetrate deep into the plan, reducing the need for artificial light and creating dynamic shifts in atmosphere throughout the day. Integrated within the bookshelf wall is a discreet space for the television, allowing technology to sit comfortably within an otherwise clean and understated décor.
Storage and display are treated as architectural elements rather than afterthoughts. The continuous shelving stretches from the lower level to the top floor, unifying living and circulation spaces and offering generous display and book storage without disrupting the minimal aesthetic. This approach blends functionality and form: the shelving anchors multiple rooms while maintaining the home’s elegant, uncluttered look.

The kitchen follows the same philosophy of refined simplicity and efficient organization. A central island conceals seldom-used cookware and keeps countertops clear, while white shelving and surfaces provide contrast against the warm wood tones. The chevron-pattern oak floor ties together the kitchen and living areas, adding texture and pattern that remain subtle within the overall neutral color scheme. The renovation balances contemporary aesthetics with practical solutions that suit an urbane lifestyle.

Circulation between floors is handled with careful attention to material and form. The staircase plays a key role in linking the different levels, and natural light is used to emphasize its presence and make the ascent feel open and inviting. Gray and white finishes on the stair structure are both practical and visually light, reinforcing the home’s calm, modern language.

As a unifying element, a shelf rises colonizing both living and lobby spaces. This way we integrate aesthetic and functionality in one single element. The first stairway stretch is a solid, lifted volume in contrast with the second stretch that develops into a corrugated metal sheet that fold generating the steps.
The interiors include polished contemporary bathrooms that continue the restrained and refined palette seen throughout the house. Subtle touches—such as blue accents and white slats that bring soft, filtered light into the shower area—add visual interest while preserving the serene, cohesive atmosphere. These details underscore the project’s aim: to balance comfort, day-to-day usability and a quiet contemporary elegance.

Throughout the renovation, the design team emphasized continuity: materials, finishes and built elements work together to create a measured, cohesive whole. The double-height central space and the dramatic shelving are the architectural signatures that give this Madrid home both visual drama and practical advantages. Light, storage and circulation are coordinated so the house feels open and airy without losing warmth.
